Hi,

If anyone has spent time working on the homework assignment related to the use of the map tag as it related to an image, here are two web sites that describe how to use the map tag.

W3 Mapping Link
Polygon map support

I hope that you find these sites useful.

Thanks,
Bret

Hi,
I didn't see a topic for the syllibus and form homework assignment. So I'm posting my comments here. I was hoping to may more progress on this than I have but my job got in the way last weekend. I have a rough design for the CIS61 syllibus web page. I am having a little trouble getting background images to work the way I want in a html table. If anyone has seen this an found a good way to make this work, please post an entry.

Also, I've tried to set border size (width and height) attributes for png images but these attributes don't seem to work correctly for the png image format. You can see the image but it doesn't disply the way gif or jpg do. If anyone has seen an explanation for why on the web I'd appreciate you point me to the site.

Thanks,
Bret

Hi,
I've been able to create the form for the homework assignment related to creating a web site for CIS61.

I can enter the data as expected but when I try to send the mail to my email address when the form is running in IE, I get an error.

It works correctly andI receive the email when I run the form with Firefox.

The form validates as strict. Has anyone else seen this same issue. I'm running IE7 on Vista.

Thanks,
Bret

I also recieve an error message when I try to send the form in IE but I haven't looked into it yet. I've finished the mapping assignment and used http://www.w3schools.com/TAGS/tag_map.asp for help. I wasn't able to find a good explanation anywhere of browser compatibility.

I am finding that when I use
and strict validation...it does not work. I have to use paragraph tags instead. I found it on other assignments too. Strict validation does not like break tags...have to use Transitional if I really want break tags. Am I doing something wrong or different?

I did my form on the form/syllabus assignment...it worked fine, but I have not tried it on IE yet because I have to move it to our laptop to use that IE (since I am on a Mac).

Whoa...that sentence said when I use break tags and I coded the tag....so it came up as a blank space... :~(

Hi, here is a nice beginner site to learn about image mapping:
http://www.kasparius.com/tutorials/imagemap/index.htm

I just finished my mapping assignment. I had problems with validation.

I have 4 links for mapping:

http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/struct/objects.html#h-13.6

http://www.webdesign.org/web/html-and-css/tutorials/image-maps-in-html.6157.html

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_maps

http://www.alistapart.com/articles/imagemap

I just finished it and it validated Transitional.

My 2nd mapping homework does not open on our laptop, in IE7, because of ActiveX controls. GRRrrrrrrr...
It does open on the older IE5.2 that I have on my Mac.
