I need some help with creating a new line. The " " element doesn't validate and I've tried "/n" but can't get it right. If anyone could help me out on this I'd appreciate it. Thanks guys
For the javascript homework... we are only coming up with 6 examples of events (1 has to be one she did not give as an example) AND 2 useful training URLs, correct?
Hi, Sorry I haven't contributed in a little while. That funny thing called work got in the way. For some reason our customers expected the software to actually work the way the wanted it to. Can you imagine that?
Here are two sites that are good resources for JavaScript. Once is fairly advanced and some of the ideas are a bit controversial but when I read it most of it made sense. This is the site that describes placing the JavaScript code at the end of the body of the html file.
Nan - I think we have to do 6 JavaScript events but of those 6, include one she did not cover. And there is a JavaScript Quiz #1 of which I think we are to do questions 1 & 2 and correct them ourselves. The answers are somewhere on the pgrocersite. I've looked at it and have no clue so far. Bret - I totally understand work. I'm getting hammered all of a sudden - mentoring 2 plus have my own problems! :)
I have a textbook for another class I am taking, which is fluency in info technology. It has about 5 chapters on Javascript which I found very helpful because it explains what everything means and walks you through it. Here is a link to the book's website's Javascript 'Refernce card'.
and here is a link to some of the examples we create following the text, to illustrate some of the many things you can do with JavaScript.
The last two links involve animation which I thought was very interesting once I got the hang of it. And they also demonstrate how to create something that the user can really interact with. I recommend looking the pages and checking the source to get a better idea of how JavaScript works. Thanks, Natalie
Rita, I wonder if we are required to use the class samples. You are not alone in your state of cluelessness. I studied this a few years ago...many hours, many tears....felt like I was going to break out in hives every time I looked at it. Sorry...my brain does not work that way...prefer to retreat to Illustrator and listen to Franz Schubert.
But, alas...I must persevere, so I will. But just when I was feeling quite doomed and hopeless, I typed in "simple, basic javascript" in Google, and came up with this...for we "code challenged" poor souls. The W3C to the rescue....
Mrs. Grocer had posted a link to her CIS17 samples. They are quite helpful, especially for quiz #1. We will be discussing them on Wednesday. In the meantime, if you have not already referenced them, you can find them at http://www.pgrocer.net/Cis17/cis17programs.html.
The JavaScript examples are at the bottom of the page. Come prepared with questions on Wednesday.
This is regarding the CSS Cascading assignment. I have entered the image files in the CSS file but when I enter the code in the source the images do not pop up. Weird. Anyone seen that before.
Today, I'm trying to work on javascript assignment but I couldn't go on pgrocer.net website because it can't find the website. But, I can go on other websites such as blogger.com, bcc website, and other websites. But, I can't go on pgrocer website. I searched on google to try on the site that way and still can't go on. Is anyone having trouble to go pgrocer website or is it my computer? I can go other websites but not pgrocer website. I want to work on javascript homework but I can't to get on to look at assignments and samples.
Let me know if you are having problems with pgrocer.net website. Thanks

Greetings,
I have a few links, the 1st one by an author that I like, Dave Sawyer McFarland:
http://www.creativepro.com/article/view-source-javascript-designers
He also refers you to jQuery, which is a free library:

I haven't worked with it yet.
Bret, I liked the link for Matt Kruse's Toolbox...it looks useful.
